Aeration or Core Cultivation is the process of removing 1/2" plugs of thatch and soil about 2 - 3" long and depositing them on the lawn.  It improves soil conditions and helps control thatch.  It also creates a direct hole for deposit of nutrients in the root zone.

One of the most important services for a lawn, can be done in spring, fall or both, if heavily compacted.
