One of the first trees to bloom in spring, magnolia are a long-time favorite for their large, fragrant blooms that emerge before leaves and create a stunning display of white, pink, or yellow blooms. Trees have lovely, smooth, gray bark and interesting branching form. Large, dark green leaves add coarse texture to the summer landscape.

Adaptable, preferring well-drained, rich, loamy soil. Shelter from harsh winds and late season cold snaps, which threaten early blooms. Avoid drought. Water regularly throughout first season for establishment, provide water in later seasons during periods of drought.
