The Irrigation Foreman is a working foreman and must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of irrigation installation to include: wiring controllers and valves, pressure testing, trenching/pulling pipe; installing heads, rotors, valves, main and lateral lines, drip line, bubblers, etc.; operating equipment, ordering correct materials, installing commercial and residential irrigation systems; and interfacing with customers, subcontractors, designers, etc. This person will manage a crew on a daily basis to include irrigation maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and installation. The Irrigation Foreman must also attend to and complete all paperwork and administrative requirements related to the job while creating and maintaining a professional job atmosphere.  


  • Thoroughly understands all aspects of irrigation installation and repair
  • Able to lay out a job site, interpret specs, create project estimates
  • Has leadership capability and demeanor to effectively manage and direct a crew of two to four people
  • Meet or exceed company production standards for irrigation installation
  • Ensures that jobs are kept on schedule and on budget
  • Ensures that all safety procedures are followed and reports any unsafe conditions to supervisors
  • Ensures all workers’ compensation insurance claims are properly documented and reported immediately
  • Ensures all accidents are properly documented and reported immediately
  • Looks for extras and converts them into change orders when appropriate
  • Properly processes change orders
  • Interfaces with subcontractors to ensure timely completion of their phase of the project
  • Interfaces with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of job materials
  • Able to fill out and process all necessary paperwork, purchase orders, time sheets, etc.
  • Able to interact with clients, subcontractors, and staff professionally and competently
  • Able to train crew as a team and maintain a high level of morale
  • Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs
  • Prepare vehicles and equipment for the day’s work, and perform general maintenance
  • Operate equipment properly and safely: trenchers, pullers, trucks, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrow, hand tools, and other equipment
  • Be punctual, committed, and motivated to succeed
  • Demonstrate customer service and professionalism
  • Work effectively with little supervision
  • Seasonal duties include aerating, over seeding, power edging, landscape lighting, water feature maintenance, snow removal, etc.  Duties and responsibilities subject to change at any time with or without notice to accommodate seasonal and peak business demands
  • Proficient in or able to learn customer relationship management and estimating software


  • 3+ years of experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Posses a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy
  • CDL license highly recommended
  • Pass a pre-employment and ongoing random drug tests


  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular and consistent basis, move about the work site
  • Exposed to exterior elements (i.e. pollen, chemicals, cold and heat, etc.)
  • Time in the field is 100%
  • Requires extended periods of activity; walking, standing, kneeling, bending and lifting
  • Typical work week requires 40-50 hours
